Reflection (The Using Of Interactive White Board)

Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) is one application of ICT in teaching and learning. For first time I see a tool like IWB makes me feel impressed. I wonder why this IWB is not placed in schools including my school a few years ago. This is because the cost is very expensive that almost reach tens of thousands ringgit. The IWB is a technology made up of a computer connected to both a projector and a touch-sensitive board that presents the pictures projected from the computer, allows for changes, and receives input electronically or by touch. The software for the IWBs allows arrange of activities, including those that can be used without the use of the IWB as well as activities unique to this technology. Using the IWB, I am able to drag and drop an item on the board that can move in various directions. Then, I can hide and reveal an item located on top of others can be removed. The animation can be spun, change size and move in a pre-determined direction. Besides, there are also feedbacks when touching a particular item. Of course I want to apply the uses of IWB in classroom because it improves learning process. The use of the IWB enhances motivation to learn raises the level of concentration, improve behavior and enhance learning because it is fun and innovative. Students will participate more actively in the classroom and interact much more to the teachers, peers and IWB itself. Working with IWB makes me more up-to-date and improve my confidence particularly in using technological skills. It enriches my lesson and turns into an interesting one because of different teaching and learning styles which are aural and visual. For my opinions, it is important to train teachers to utilize the technology for new pedagogical purposes. It may be helpful to establish a database of lessons and instructional materials that integrate various technological elements in order to ease the burden on teachers in preparing interactive lessons. Last but not least, adding IWBs in the schools may help create continuity in the innovative methods of learning and instruction for most of the students.
